Duo WindEnergIe
The duo WindEnergie has been founded in 2007. Albeit accordion and trumpet are fundamentally contrasting instruments at first sight, the air is their common basis, the ’soul’ of sound production. The broad sound spectrum of the duo, rich in nuances and timbre, is even increased by numerous additional instruments such as alphorn, flugelhorn and special trumpet models including quarter-tone, double-bell, slide, and piccolo trumpet. The use of electronics and video contribute to the general concept.
Both musicians collaborate intensely with composers of our time – including Bernd Thewes, Simon Steen-Andersen, Arno Lücker, Timo Ruttkamp – and have regularly concerts in Germany as well as abroad.
Working with improvisatory and free concepts opens up further sound possibilities. Their programmes often build a bridge to music of Renaissance or Baroque, revived by the ‘fresh breeze’ of new instrumentation. Both musicians are members of ensemble cras, a group of young musicians which perform in variable instrument combinations new and newest works.
