Duo AZAK

Andrea Carola Kiefer, accordion
Anikó Zeke, cello

Duo AzakDuo AZAK has been founded in 1998. Besides contemporary literature for this combination, the repertoire of the ensemble comprehends also works of the baroque period in which the accordion takes over the part from the “cembalo obligato”. The range of repertoire is enriched with transcriptions of classical age and entertaining genres. Apart from that, Duo AZAK is devoted to Tango Argentino, performing a large scale of Tangos and Milongas from the OEuvre of the Argentinian composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla.

In cooperation with composers such as Pei-Yu Shih and Christopher Brandt, new works were initiated and premiered. In 2004, Duo AZAK was invited to 7.Nachwuchsforum by the German Association of Contemporary Music. In combination with harp, both musicians form Ensemble Trialoge which concentrates on contemporary music.

They gave concerts throughout Germany and in Helsinki (Finland), appeared in established concert series, as well as on festivals like PantaRhei, “Tage für Neue Musik” (Darmstadt and Würzburg).
